February 12 2011 - Long Exposures

view from Cooper Park under the Cambie Bridge toward housing on the Olympic athletic village site
The day started out miserably, pouring... not optimal for an Urban Long Exposure Workshop.  We headed for cover under the bridge where we shivered and tried to protect our lenses from rain blowing in at us sideways, our fingers numb and stiffened.  But just after the group started to break up, so did the clouds and the light was incredible.  Fortunately, a few of us stragglers managed to capture it.  This wasn't even taken with the ND filters... this was a test shot, but the light was really lovely.  Now I'm suffering from over-exposure to the elements.  So chilled I was wrapped in blankets for two hours, but worth it.

  1. Beautiful photographs ... it's good to see Vancouver through your eyes. I live in Cardiff, another wet city on the other side of Atlantic. Your old friend Jonathan Murphy.

  2. OMG! Didn't expect to find you here :-) So you made your way back to the old country after all those years as a Canadian! Curious as to what lead you back there, and how you've been keeping. Hope all is well with you. Nice to hear from you... and Thanks!, btw :-)
