Hiatus

I am going to have to take a break from this project for a few, maybe several, days.  In the mean time, I may occasionally post an older photo.  Bye for now.  Peace out.

March 9 2011 - Harbinger of spring

the French call him Le Rouge-gorge

...although, evidently, the European Robins are quite a bit smaller
(and their colouring is a little different, too).
A friend of mine was on a plane once seated next to a Frenchman,
and decided to ask him his impressions of Canada.
My friend was startled when the man gushed:  "Your rouge-gorge are enormous!"
Not knowing what he was talking about, my buddy simply blushed and said, "why, thank you".

March 5 2011 - Grey

taken a couple of days ago immediately after a downpour
mist completely obliterates the mountains
a hazy sunlight reflects off water, steel and glass
cement Skytrain tracks and grey sky

Wanting to enjoy my walk without the encumbrance of a bulky camera,
all photos were taken with my iPhone
The first two photos were taken today.

March 01 2011 - Golden Goal

Canada scores hockey gold, Vancouver 2010.
Parties ensue in Vancouver streets.
Okay, so I'm one day late.... the one-year anniversary was yesterday.  This is one of many shots I got the afternoon of that win.  I randomly selected this one to experiment with HDR.  I am using a trial version of the HDR software, Photomatix.  Hence the annoying watermark.  I liked the blur I got in many of these shots; it captures, I think, the frenetic and spontaneous nature of the celebration (although this pic was pushing it just a little).  The HDR emphasizes the surreality of the moment... imho.  What do you think?
